A Kestrel for a Knave

Teaching resources in support of the text.

A Kestrel for a Knave by Barry Hines has long been a favourite with Key Stage 4 pupils.  It tells the story of the disadvantaged teenager, Billy Casper, who captures and trains a kestrel hawk - the only thing in his life which has meaning for him.   Even this is taken from him and at the end of the novel he is left to face a bleak future.

This resource pack divides the novel into nine phases and for each phase provides story summaries, commentaries, vocabulary lists and questions.  A variety of differentiated worksheets provides ample materials to reinforce the study of this novel.

Black and white line drawings.

This material may be photocopied within the purchasing establishment.

Pack price:  £22
