This delightful story by Anita Desai tells of a young boy's efforts to help his family struggle through illness and poverty. The story is set partly in a small fishing village on the coast of India south of Bombay and partly in the teeming city of Bombay where Hari hopes to make his fortune.

This teaching pack contains summaries, comments and questions on each chapter of the text.  A variety of differentiated worksheets dealing with character and themes   provide ample materials for pupils of all abilities.
